recently won honors for their accomplishments. Amy completed Ironman
Florida on November 5, 2005 in 15:36:55. Dodson, who lost her left leg
below the knee and lower lobe of her left lung to cancer in 1983
continues to excel in triathlons. She finished 83rd of 96 in her age
group against able-bodied competitors. Congratulations Amy!!!!
Dave recently competed and completed the 2005 ITU
(International Triathlon Union) World Triathlon
Championship (1,500 meter swim/40 kilometer bike/10
kilometer run) for age groups and athletes with a
disability (AWAD) in Honolulu, Hawaii on October 9,
2005. Dave, an above-the-knee amputee faced four
opponents from around the world in above-the-knee amputee
category. Getting off the bike at T2 Dave was over five
minutes behind the race leaders. Dave made the decision to
go for it, win or lose he was going to leave everything on
the race course. His decision was pivotal as he ran down
the leader to take the gold medal and be crowned world
champion of the International Triathlon Union's challenged
athlete division. His winning time 3:09:55. Way to go
