Glass City Marathon Water Stop Report
Dear Team Toledo Members:
The Glass City Marathon Team Toledo Water Stops were absolutely wonderful. I don't know
of any other clubs that can pull off 2 at one time. National City Bank, I think is the
only other organization. (Granted most can't be lucky like us and have them across the
street from each other) Still, all in all, it was entered upon by the runners hearing
great cheering and enthusiasm by those of you who helped. The best camaraderie of the
club comes from volunteering at events like this. Many, many thanks to all of you who
showed up in the bitter and windy cold to help the runners who were not facing the best
of circumstances either.
Special thanks to Nila Boyce for stepping up and chairing the water stops this year.
(most excellent)
I would also like to extent my congratulations to all those who participated in the Glass
City Marathon this year. From 5-person teams, 2-person teams and the full, you should be
very proud of yourselves. We had many firsts for many of our members this year. Way to
go Team Toledo. Keep up the great work.
Not that our running has been inspired, it's now time to break up that endurance and
multisport for the summer. Please take some time to go to
check out the MERCS series. Another great first would be to bring home the trophy
and a $1000.00 for winning the series. If we work together, it will happen.
If you have never raced at an event out of town, please consider it. There are many
great venues and spectacular scenery to be conquered. This is how we get our most points,
just for being there and finishing. You don't have to place to win one for the team. Many
of us get together for fun time before an out of town (dinner, I know you all eat) and
some even carpool and share rooms to cut expenses. It is alot of fun.
Congrats, and Good Luck for the upcoming Tri/Du season.
Best Regards,
Liz Young
Team Toledo Pres. Elect.
