News 2009

Track Workouts are done (for 2009). Due to it getting dark sooner, there will be not be any more track workouts until next spring (2010). A big "thank you" goes to our track coach, Jim Lopez.

We won, officially official now. It was really close, but we won. Only 12 points between first and second place, which is about 3 racers. We should thank the TriKats, Ann Arbor, and the other teams for pushing Liz into pushing the rest of us. Here are the final totals from the championship race:
1. Team Toledo with 226 points
2. TriKats with 214 points
3. Ann Arbor Tri Club with 173 points
4. Team Cincy Express with 159 points
5. CircleCity Tri Club with 119 points
6. Tri NASTI with 92 points

2009 MERCSR Schedule - the 2009 schedule is here. So you can start planning your races. The good news is Maumee Bay is a MERCSR race this year, the bad news is Sylvania is not. So Click Here to see the races. Updated with target races.

The NATIONAL USAT CLUB Challenge has been moved to the main menu. See "Log Your Workout" at the bottom, right before "Email Us".

September-December 2009

October 24th, Saturday - Street Cleanup, 8:00am Tam-O Shanter parking lot.
Thru September, every Wednesday - Track Workout, changing workout time and location, start at 6:00pm. Location is behind Stranahan Elementary. It's on Holland-Sylvania Rd a little south of Sylvania Ave before you get to the railroad tracks. Yes, this is past the calendar and training schedule, but as long as people keep coming, so will our track coach, Jim Lopez.
Team Toledo is heading for the Motor City - October 10th (not the 17th). No, it's not a race, it's to have a great time and do a little fundraising. Click here for details.

August 25th, 2009, Tuesday - Time Trial (Cycling) - Results.
August 1st, 2009, Saturday - Open Water Swim - 68 swimmers, water temp 77.

July 2009

July 30th, 2009, Thursday - MAKEUP Open Water Swim - 80 swimmers.
July 28th, 2009, Tuesday - Open Water Swim - Cancelled.
July 26th, 2009, Sunday - Women's Tri, Centennial Quarry (Sylvania, OH). If you would like to volunteer, send a message to Liz.
July 25th, 2009, Saturday - Open Water Swim, 8:30am sign-in, 9:00am start - Yes we did. Despite heavy rain early it cleared up and we had the swim. There were five people that went around twice.
July 23rd, 2009, Thursday- Open Water Swim and Picnic - we had 100 swimmers and some great food. The water temperature was 78 degrees and despite some storms ealier in the day, we had great weather. Thanks to Liz and Chef Russ for the hamburgers and hot dogs, and thanks to everyone else for the great side dishes and desserts.
July 21st, 2009, Tuesday - Time Trial, Otsego Park, 6:00pm check-in, starts at 6:30pm Results.
July 19th, 2009, Sunday - MERCRS Race - little north of Columbus. Great race for spectators. Sprint and Olympic races. You get to ride on the freeway (lanes closed). Go to our MERCRS Page for link to their website or Google directions. Should be a fun race with lots of Team Toledo racers.

July 2nd, 2009, Thursday - Open Water Swim. Season record 100 swimmers came for the 77 degree water and great weather.
July 2nd, 2009, Thursday - Open Water Swim. We had 80 swimmers show up despite the nasty looking never-did-rain weather. The water temperature was a cool 76 degrees, good for wetsuit or without.

June 13th, 2009, Saturday - Latino Fest - Team Toledo will get $1000 for working this event. This helps pay for stuff and keeps the membership fee down. More Info.

April 26th, 2009 - East Y Masters Swim Meet - Location: Eastern Community YMCA. Yes, it's the same day as the GCM (same as last year) but I worked the waterstop last year and had time to go home and eat lunch between. New Race uniforms! We need to place the order now so you can have it for that first race.

January is Cycling month for NATIONAL USAT CLUB Challenge. We didn't do very well in December for swimming, but that's because you were saving up for January, right? The rules are a little different this year, to count towards the National Club Challenge you need to send your USAT membership number to Liz. If you don't have a USAT number, you can still log your workouts. This is just for fun and help people stay in shape during the winter months.
