Special Olympics Coaching Opportunity
Special Olympics is looking for a coach to help with their athletes that compete in
biking. They compete in 1k, 3k and 5k events. Currently there are only a couple
of athletes that compete in these events. Ideally they are looking for someone to help
out once or twice per week beginning in early April leading up to the district competition
on May 10 in Toledo and then the state meet at the end of June in Columbus. Special
Olympics would help give the coach some guidance about what to do. Basically it would
entail giving some biking tips to the athlete(s) and possibly going out on some rides
with them and of most importantly providing encouragement and enthusiasm. One of the
participants is in his 20's named Jared and has competed for many years and has fared well
in the state meet. He lives in Oregon but has transportation and could meet the coach at
the coach's convenience.
Please let me know if you have an interest in helping. Keep in mind 2 people could
tag-team this if that helps with the time commitment. Special Olympics would like to have
a coach in place as soon as possible. Please e-mail me if you have an interest or
if you have any questions.
Thanks for your consideration.
