Glass City Marathon
is Sunday, April 28th, 2013
Thank You to all those who helped with the GCM Expo
and Water stop.
This year Team Toledo has been trusted to man TWO water stops. Our first is the first water stop on the course between
the one and two mile mark on Kenwood. We need lots of people for this! Twenty to thirty. Imagine several thousand people in less than 45 minutes,
then cleanup. We had this water stop last year, and we were done in less than an hour from the start of the race.
Our second stop is on the University Trail at the Bancroft crossing. This is about three miles from the finish. The runners should be well spaced by this point in the race.
So, we need ten to twenty people here.
The link to sign-up for the first or second stop is HERE.
There is also an Expo
on Saturday, April 27th. Team Toledo will have a booth at the expo again this year. This is
a great opportunity to get exposure for the club. There are a lot of runners out there that wish they could do a
triathlon just need a little push. We need people to man the booth and answer questions about the club.
The link to sign-up to help at the GCM Expo booth is HERE.
Team Toledo Annual Meeting The meeting will
be February 22, 2013 at the Nederhouser at Olander Park. The food is pot luck, and it's
BYOB(beverage). Yes, alocohol is allowed. Click for more info.
Lauren Jenson Training Weekend
be February 23-24, 2013You must sign up to attend, don't sign up and not come, because
you may be blocking someone else from attending. Each swession has a limited number. For details and to sign up for session(s)

Winter Expo - January 26th
Thanks to everyone who helped and came out. We made The Blade and
Our Town Sylvania, pretty cool.
Time Trial (Cycling) - 2012 -
Results from June 5th,
Results from July 2nd,
Results from August 6th.
Cancer Sucks!
The Team Toledo board has agreed to allow our name and logo to be used
for a very worthwhile cause. Just to be clear, no money is coming from
Team Toledo. The money you pay for membership to the club is only used
for triathlon related events. More Info
New for 2012 Team Toledo Events - we will require some
form of wearable id, like RoadID, for Team Toledo events. We will also adding
"Emergency Contact:" to the members application. This is for safety so we can
identify everyone in case of an accident and who to notify. To be fair, we will required
this for everyone, even if everybody knows you. We also have a backup plan in case
you don't have any wearable id or you're a new member; it's called a Sharpie. We will mark you with a number
and we'll also have a numbered list and you can figure the rest out. But if you don't
like that, you'll probably want to get something like RoadID. If you already have
something, wear it.

Team Picnic -
Tuesday, July 24th, 6:30pm sign-in, 6:55pm hit the beach,
7:00pm swim. More Info about swim. Picnic to follow the swim. This years picnic
is all potluck. It will be held in Tam-O-Shanter's parking lot (same as last year). It's the parking lot
between the Senior Center and Tam-O that you might not know existed. Map.
Wear your red Team Toledo shirt for a group picture. Don't worry about blow drying your hair, there are so
many of us, we'll just be little red dots.
Update - So maybe not little dots, but we look pretty good. There were more than just those in the picture,
and I think everyone had a pretty good time.
Women's Only Triathlon (and Dry-Tri) - Sunday, July 29th. We need volunteers to man the bike course.
We need your name now, so we can assign you to a corner. And know what corners need to be covered.
If you can help email Liz. If you're really really not sure, you can just
show up. Race starts at 7:30, so be there at 7:00am. Doesn't take long (short course), usually
done by 8:30 at the latest.
RoadID - Team Toledo currently has a deal with
RoadID.com to give a 20% discount to our members. Just check your last email (from us) or
pick up a coupon at the next swim or track workout. The discount expires: July 2nd.
First Open Water Swim - Saturday, June 9th, 8:30am sign-in, 9:00am swim. The
water temp was 76 and we had 97 members for the swim. Which I think is a record for a
Saturday.
June 7th - save $10 off the Maumee Bay Triathlon by signing up before June 8th. Also save 15%
by using the discount code which was in the last email blast. Can't post it here, because it's only
for members of a USAT club. Send me (Tom Fountain) a message if you missed the last email blast.
Renew Before June 1st - renew before June 1st so when you race
at Maumee Bay you will score points for MERCRS. We need to submit the roster on May 31st.
If you're not on the current roster, then we can't count your points for the club.
Let's make Team Toledo Mid-East champs again.
Try A Tri - May 13th Francis Family YMCA, Temperance, MI. This is a great event for those who have never done a triathlon.
You don't need to be an ironman to do this race. The distances are 10 lengths in the 25 yard pool. Then 2 bike laps
which is 8 miles, then a short 3K(1.9mile) run. Here is the flyer if you know
anyone that might be intersted. This year the race falls on Mother's Day, so we need all the volunteers we can get.
We need people on the bike course, run course, transition, and lap counters(in the pool) and timing. Please send an
email if you can help to Liz. If you just want to show up, that's okay too. We start
setting up at 6:30am, transition opens at 7:00am, race starts at 8:00am. Extra parking available in the field east of the YMCA.

at 6:00pm, first biker goes off at 6:30. The course goes out Brint to Fulton-Lucas Rd and
back to make 12 miles. We will need volunteers to sweep, flag and watch for traffic at
all intersections with a stop sign. We can make it fun at have participants enter their
best guess and whoever is closest wins a prize. Results

MERCRS - Looks like we won again. That's five years in a row. Not as
much fun when when the announcement comes two months after the season is over. But

for racing, and thanks for being so cool.
Adopt-A-Street, Saturday October 29th, 8:00am - meet in Tam-O-Shanter parking

Race Info.
There is a 5K(3.1 Mile), 1 Mile, or 1/2 Mile Open Water Swim. When you sign-up, use "Team Toledo" as your team.
Well I hope you all had fun at the Sylvania race this year. Thanks to Jim and Joyce and all
the Elite Endeavor staff, and all the Team Toledo people who volunteered. Speaking of
volunteers I will post the list of volunteers that I wrote down, but I'm sure there were
some that I missed (I try to be everywhere, but it doesn't work).
Volunteer Points 2011 - So you've been helping out with every chance a Team Toledo
volunteer opportunity pops up. But now you're asking yourself "What do I get out of this?"
besides that fuzzy warm feeling of doing something to make the community a better place.
Well click here to see the really cool thing you could get. OR if
maybe you don't have any points yet, there's also a list of the volunteer opportunities left.
USAT Club Race Discounts - not that you really needed another reason to be a member of the club, but
here is one. This year the USAT has worked a deal so that if you are a member of a USAT club (like Team Toledo),
then you qualify for discounts for certain races. Now because this is only for club members I can't post the
discount codes here (because anybody could get them). The list was sent out in an email blast as an attachment.
However, if you didn't get the email, or accidentally deleted it before reading, then I can send to you again. Just
send me (Tom Fountain) a note. PS - 15% discount for all HFP races. No discount
for the Sylvania race.
